Written by Andrus Kivirähk, directed by Andrus Vaarik, designed by Hanna Allsaar, starring Lauri Liiv as Mauno.
Mauno attended first grade for eight years but didn’t want to move on when his teacher offered him a chance to advance to second grade. For him, the most important thing is the ABC book through which he interprets the world. He remembers all the poems and stories from the ABC book, which is why he doesn’t like storybooks. He spends his days watching life from the window at home and carries a big secret.
“Aabitsa kukk” is a one-man play by Andrus Kivirähk about a poor, small person who has something to rely on – the ABC book and his uncle. The ABC book gives him answers, and his uncle guides him through life, simplifying Mauno’s world.
Please note: the performance is in Estonian.
Alen Veziko TRIO
Date: 13 August
Venue: Vihula Manor Concert Hall
This summer there is a special reason to celebrate. In addition to a milestone birthday, this autumn marks 25 years of Alen’s career as a professional musician. Over the years, Alen has composed music that has been used as theme songs for TV shows, played in nightclubs, and is part of the best of Estonian acoustic music—songs performed with choirs at song festivals. Alen has said that if he could draw, he would paint a picture for every song. It is these pictures that he sings in his music. When time stands still and the sounds take over, the MIRACLE OF MUSIC is born!

The tradition of sea shanties, which later evolved into the beloved modern sea songs, originates from this era.
